I love cheese fondue, but I'm not a fan of boiling food in broth or oil, so I was delighted to discover that The Melting Pot now has a grilling option for the entree.

We had the Big Night Out dinner for two. We started with the fiesta fondue, which had some nice crunchy jalapeno bits in it. The California salad and strawberry pecan salad were both good, somewhat similar, but differing by type of greens and dressing.

Our entree included Filet Mignon, Teriyaki-Marinated Steak, Chicken, Shrimp, Salmon, and a pasta that we subbed for Potstickers because they grill better. My favorite was the Teriyaki-Marinated Steak.

For dessert, we selected a plain dark chocolate fondue. I particularly liked the crunchy chocolate chip waffles that came with it for dipping, but there is also the usual area of fruits and baked goods.

I recommend the Classic Pairing, four wines well-selected to match each course, at a reasonable price.

We went for lunch the day before Mother's Day, so it was very busy, and I have to say you couldn't tell. Tom, the manager, and Harrison, our server had everything totally under control. It was a great experience.

Geja’s Cafe

***** (5 stars)

Geja’s offers excellent fondue, and even better ambiance. If you’re looking for an intimate, romantic place for a Tête à Tête, this is the spot. Be sure to ask for one of the booths, which are more like private little rooms.

The complete dinners here are pretty reasonably priced when you consider everything they include: a smokey cheese fondue appetizer, a French-style green salad, whatever entrée meats/chicken/fish/shellfish you select, and a generous chocolate fondue dessert.

Along the way your waiter will keep everything on fire and at the right temperature–at one point we had four flames going on the table at once, a record, I believe.

The wine list is really the only negative, as the choices are limited to fairly everyday wines at high markups.

Whether you’re in the mood for fondue, or just a romantic evening, this is a good choice.

This place really is like a quick trip to the Rocky Mountains. They have done an absolutely amazing job with the interior decor. We’ve been going her for special occasions such as birthdays for more than a decade, an have watched our daughter grow up underneath the moose head where they take birthday pictures!

I love the fondue appetizer, but to me the place is really about the hot rock cooking. It is so fun, healthful and tasty to grill your own food right on the table. Just don’t take your two year old, or you’ll spend the evening trying to keep him from touching the hot rock.

And of course who doesn’t like chocolate fondue for dessert? There also a thoughtful selection of beers. Service is friendly and makes you feel like one of the family. Highly recommended.
